Yvonne Carroll’s prints revolve around her love of nature, her fluid process of designing, drawing and cutting results in magical images that exude life and energy.

July 13 – Festival of British Archaeology 2019 Event – Local Archaeology Day: Discover Merthyr’s hidden Past Merthyr Tydfil has a rich heritage and this day will celebrate and demonstrate the diversity of its heritage. Several archaeological and historical experts will be at Cyfarthfa Castle, to talk all about archaeological finds and excavations in the borough. Booking Essential. Talks start at 2pm and the standard entrance fee of £2.00, applies to all adults. Entrance fee is payable on the day.

July 14 – Festival of British Archaeology 2019 Event – Make a Mosaic! An Introduction to making Mosaic Art Like many Roman sites across Wales, Roman sites in Merthyr had examples of Mosaic flooring and decoration. August 20 & 21 – Create your own WW2 Evacuees Pack 80 years ago, after WW2 began the first evacuees from England arrived in Merthyr Tydfil. By 1940 there were hundreds of evacuated children in the town. Come to this workshop and find out about their story and create your own evacuees pack. September 21 – Open Doors 2019 Event: Remnants of War As one war ended 100 years ago another one was just beginning 80 years ago. WWI & II affected many people from Merthyr Tydfil and this Open Doors event will bring out of storage objects related to both of those wars. October 23 & 24 – Ghost Tours of Cyfarthfa Castle Museum & Art Gallery This is a guided tour around Cyfarthfa Castle Museum and Art Gallery by torchlight. Ghost stories will be told about all the mysterious things to happen at the Castle over the decades and you will have a chance to do your own paranormal investigations. PLEASE NOTE: The tours will only take place within the Museum section of the building. Tour starts at 7:00pm – 8:30pm & 9:00pm – 10:30pm on both dates. Cost £10.00 per person (non-refundable).
